Need an easy filler activity with your virtual students with little prep? Try Zoom Out.
The premise of this activity pretty simple. Find high quality pictures (I’ll show you where!) and zoom in really close. Slowly zoom out until someone correctly guesses it in the chat. I use this during my advisory as a fun, relaxing activity but you could easy use it with pictures of concepts from your class.
Set Up – Prior to class
- Create a folder on your computer to save all of the pictures to.
- Use free pictures from a website such as https://www.pexels.com/ to download pictures.
- Download the pictures into your folder.
During your Meeting
Complete steps 1-4 prior to letting students in!
- Select all of your images and open them into preview.
- From your zoom window, select share screen.
- Click advanced and select share a portion of your screen.
- Zoom in on your first picture.
- Let your students in to the meeting.
- Explain to your students the premise of the game.
- Slowly zoom out while your students guess in the chat.
- Before switching to the next picture make sure you PAUSE your share!
I tried this back in October with my students and they requested to play it again just last week. It took 10 minutes for me to pull pictures from Pexel and I was ready to go!
